When Basements are Damp, Mold Can Grow

When water is present in a basement, mold often grows. This basement had excessive mold on flooring and walls as a result from from excess moisture. For their protection, all remediation personnel were required to wear double tyvek suits with gloves and boots duct taped as well as powered air purifying respirator full face masks. We constructed a "waste removal chamber" to safely dispose of the contaminated material. Decontamination of the home required all surfaces and objects remaining, including wood studs and structural supports, to be HEPA vacuumed, cleaned and sanitized. All suspended ceilings, flooring and drywall in the basement were removed.
